THE GREAT HALL & INNER COURTYARD
The Great Hall, which is located at the front of the house, is entered via the impressive porte-cochère, which was built
in the 1820s. Work on The Great Hall itself, which was based on a Roman Basilica, began in 1762 finishing in 1769.
The Hall is dominated at either end by the particularly fine statues of the Dying Gaul and the Apollo Belverdere,
purchased by the 1st Duchess of Northumberland in 1773 and 1764 respectively. Continuing through the Hall leads
out to the Inner Courtyard, a beautiful sunken garden and a spectacle itself when in full summer bloom. The Great
Hall can accommodate between 80 and 120 guests and the package includes private use of the Inner Courtyard. Menu is the same as The Private Marquee.
